Remember when the guild meeting was this big? This picture is
from December 2001.
Remember when keeps were really tough to take without several groups?
These ten folks below managed to take Bledmeer by the skin of their teeth
one night and this was even before keeps could be upgraded so it was
effectively a level one keep. What weaklings we were back
then. This picture is from April 2002.
In case you ever wondered about the how the GoV banner was created, it was
made from several images combined together. We were able to find
some of those old images. The GoV site was launched on
November 29th, 2001 and these images were taken just before that date.
This shot is what's used to build the background for the image.
It's taken just north of Howth by the horse trail. In the final
image a section of the waterline was repeated to give the feeling of a
lake.
This shot was used for the image on the left. The image was
inverted, cut out and placed on the backdrop of the first shot.
Notice the shield placement in the final logo. To give better
visibility to the shield it was rotated and angled for better placement.
This image of Druim Ligen comprises most of the right area of the image.
Notice that the mountains on the left of the image we're used to seeing
have been cut away to blend in with the rest of the image. In the
final picture Pharaoh made two appearances in the logo, look in the middle
of the last o to see this hidden cameo.
Unfortunately we couldn't find the remainder of the images from the logo.
The horse rider is Problum and the person on the back of the "lake"
riding a horse was from an unknown rider that came galloping into Druim
Ligen while the above shot was being taken. Our thanks go out to
Darcstar who created this image for our site. At the time he
didn't play DAoC so he asked for image after image until he had enough to
build them into something that gave the effect we were looking for for the
site. Thanks Darcstar, the site wouldn't be the same without
the logo you worked so hard on years ago.
