At 9:30 EST guilds and players gathered at Drum Ligen to form parties and
prepare for attack. Our target was one of our keeps that had been
taken by Midgard several weeks ago. As you can see from the people
gathered outside, turnout was high.
Very high in fact, there were around 230 people in the Connacht area
preparing for battle in and around Drum Ligen.
Guardians of Valor gathered in one corner and coordinated two groups that
included GoV members, recruits and some extras to round off our
teams. Shortly after we got coordinated and were preparing to head
out... the server crashed! Much mayhem ensued on our forums as we
all pressed "refresh" on the Mythic Server stats page. The
Mythic folks got the server back up shortly and we regrouped for
battle.
Problum, the GoV orienteering master led the way to our keep.
We all gathered at the bottom of the keep to determine strategy.
Xlarthen was in chat with Ariadne, the battle leader, and relayed our
orders to us.
As the sun set a ram was erected at the gate and we were
victorious. If you've never taken a keep before you need to do four
things, none of which are easy. 1) Kill the archers and
guards. 2) Take down the two keep doors. 3) Kill the Keep
Lord. 4) Hold the keep until the guards respawn as your
realm's guards.
Nolobat sends this picture of everyone hacking away at the keep
lord. There were about 50 people whacking on him
for about 10 minutes trying to kill him. This brought a whole new
meaning to the phrase "Stone Skin!"
