Here are some steps to get you up and running with an IRC client to our
chat channel. These steps assume you're using the IRC
client mIRC. You can download it from www.mirc.com.
- Download and install mIRC
- Start mIRC
- Select File -- Options
- Select the Connect item in the list on the left
- On the right select the Add button
- Enter a description of "EnterTheGame"
- For IRC Server enter "irc.enterthegame.com"
- Leave the rest of the fields at their default settings
- Select Add. You now have a server configured
- In the Full Name field under Connect enter something
- For email address enter something (doesn't have to be valid)
- Enter a nickname and alternate nickname. Nicknames must be unique so
your alternate nick will be used if your primary nickname is in use by
another player
At this point you can press the Connect to IRC Server button to get
online. However, you may want to set it so that it autojoins the chat
channel. Do this by:
- Under File -- Options expand the IRC tab in the left list
- Select the Perform tab
- Ccheck the "On connect perform these options" check box
- Enter "/join #blacksun" in the text box
To have IRC automatically connect you when you start the program you can:
- Under File -- Options expand the Connect tab in the left list
- Select Options under Connect
- Check "Connect on Startup" and "Reconnect on disconnection" options
- Select OK
