Guardians of Valor listed in the Ring Surf Web Ring!

Our web site is listed now listed in a web ring with over 100 other Dark Age of Camelot guilds. Check out the bottom of our links bar at the right for links to the other guilds in the web ring.

What is a Web Ring? It's a collection of web sites linked together in an endless circle. From each site in the ring you can go to the next, previous or a random site in the ring. You can also see a list of the sites in the ring.

I've spent a lot of time in the past perusing other guild sites to see what other guilds philosphies and members are like. Hopefully this will be a good resource to link us to other sites as well as bring visitors to our site.

Site Updates - Great Stuff Happening!

GoV has been busy this past week. We currently have more recruits than we have ever had at any one time. To make a new recruit's orientation go more smoothly a New Member Information page has been added to the site. This one page will tell the member all they need to know to get set up and active on our pages here. You can link to this page directly from the Recruitment section of our site. If you know a new member or have a potential recruit send them there. Check out the page yourself in case you need to help with questions from new members.

A second page on on taking screen shots and getting good in-game shots was added as well. You can link to it from our Gallery main page or the New Member page.

The Multiple Characters page has been updated with additional informaion on bringing alternates into the guild and for players with alternates over level 15. Note that a final decision on alternates in other guilds will be made at the meeting on Monday night and that decision is not yet reflected in this page.

The Guild Meetings page has been updated with our new guild meeting schedule including future meeting dates. Please read Rheanae's post below this one for more information.

Last, a new section has been added to our gallery with some funny shots sent in from our members.

NEW MEETING TIME! EVERY OTHER MONDAY @ 10:00 PM EST!

The voting booths have closed and the results are in. Every other Monday night won as the day of the week for meetings. It was a close count between 9:00 PM EST, and 10:00 PM EST. But after pain-stakingly comparing the chads and partial ballots, 10:00 PM EST came out on top. Also, giving consideration to our West Coast members, 10:00 PM is the better time for all involved. The Officers meeting will be at 9:30 PM EST.

To address the need of initiate promotions... For initiates that join on a non-meeting week, they will still be up for promotion at the end of their first week. At that point there will be an announcement in the MOTD and a news posting. To honor these initiates, they will participate in the promotion ceremonies during the next meeting. Initiates that join during a meeting week will also receive an announcement in the MOTD and news posting, as well as participate in the promotion ceremony.

THE NEXT MEETING IS: MONDAY, JANUARY 28 at 10:00 PM EST.

Guild Meeting Moved to Monday 9:00PM EST

All Kinds of Site Update Goodness...

Lots of things have been going on with the site. Here's a summary:

- Sidebar Links Added: IGN Boards and the GoV files area. Do you have sites you go to all the time that aren't on our links bar? Let me know and I'll add them in.

- Alternates Lists Updated: Woah nellie, there are a LOT of alts our there now. I'm constantly updating this list. If you printed it out before, you may want to go for a reprint. If your alt's not listed here let me know.

- Alts Level 15+ Get Their Own Page: We have several alts over level 15. If you want a separate members page for those higher alts let me know and I'll get you a second page up.

- GoV IRL Page Up: We have a new page off our Members with real pictures of some of the GoV members. If you want your picture added to this IRL page send it on. Check it out here.

- Alliance Chat Rules: Based on discussion in the alliance forum, chatting guidelines have been added to the Alliance section of the site.

New Alliance Chat and Welcome Epic Blunder to the Alliance!

Please join me in welcoming Epic Blunder to our alliance. I have added Epic Blunder to our alliance page including their brand new web site created by their leader Creirwy. Welcome Epic Blunder!

Xlarthen and Ariadne have discussed having a common location that alliance members can get together. As a result, we have a new alliance forum on our boards. Please welcome members of the guilds in our alliance to our site and to our boards. We hope to help further the effectiveness of our alliance through discussion in our alliance forum.

Ariadne says: "The alliance system is set up so we can organize a quick response to an invader threat, or to better organize an offensive. the guilds in the current alliance are those that have been active in the rvr arena, and more guilds are going to be added soon since they are now also out in the front lines too."

It looks like we should look for more activity in our alliance in the near future. One Albion Keep? Just wait until we get rolling folks!

Congratulations to all those who contributed to helping bring GoV back into fourth place for realm points in Hibernia. In addition, our alliance holds the top four spots in Hibernia. Great work GoV and all our alliance friends!

We've been visited by some search engine b0ts over the past several weeks. Now if you enter "Guardians of Valor" in Google we're the top hit. How fun!

Alternates List Up and New Trading Post Forum

At our guild meeting this Sunday it was evident that there are getting to be a lot of GoV alternate characters out there. We put our heads together to come up with an easy way to document alts on the site here. Several changes have been made to help keep everyone straight:

- The members section has been revamped. All member sections are now listed alphabetically, not in order of membership.

- Major alternate characters (Level 15 and higher) have their own page under the members section. After all, with that much time invested, let's get some info up about you! These high-level alternates are listed under an Alternates section in the members list.

- Any character with a main alternate has links within their member pages to their alternate(s).

- At the bottom of the Alternates list there is a link to Other Alts. This shows a list of minor alternates alphabetized by name and who the main character for that alt is.

- For easy reference once you get to the alternates page you can select an Alternates Printable List for quick reference while in-game.

Second, a request for a Trading Post forum was made at the meeting. That forum is up and is only accessable to guild members. This should be a great way for us to share the wealth of all the items we may have that we can't use.

Congratulations to www.guardiansofvalor.com for being one month old. We've had fun posting here, reading news, checking out members pages and lots more. We hope to see more great things for the GoV site in the months to come and even more exciting things happening in-game. Happy one month!
