Guild meeting tonight Posted by
Pharaoh@ 2:48 PM EST
Just a quick reminder of our guild meeting tonight at 11:00 EST behind the palace. Officers meet 1/2 hour early to prepare for the meeting.
Several members don't have a members picture up on our site. Our guild meeting is a great time to get these shots taken. I'll be there and will get anyone's picture who's missing.
We also have several folks who have alts without a page up or a picture. If you have an alt that you would like up on the site please let me know.

More Gallery Updates Posted by
Pharaoh@ 6:28 PM EST
A few updates to the Gallery page:
- New December events section showcasing our first guild meeting.
- Some members have sent me updated members pictures or new members pictures. If you don't like your picture or have a newer one just send it on and I'll update your members page.
- The gallery section has been archived. We have had such response with people sending pictures we're already rolling some sections to an archive page. Check out the archive link at the bottom of the main gallery page. I'll roll older sections to the archives as we build more sections. Awesome work all!

New Pictures and News Posting Posted by
Pharaoh@ 5:07 PM EST
Two things:
1) We have some new pictures up in the gallery. Check them out! Your screen shots are always welcome and apprecicated.
2) Are you interested in posting news here? We'd love to have our guild members participate in posting relavent news items. If you're interested just send me an email and I'll grant you posting access. Our forums are great locations to have discussions, but hot news about DAoC or the guild is great content for a front page news post.

Forums came back online on their new host machine at 4:20PM today. Sorry for the inconvienence for anyone looking to read/post news.
Forums Down -- Back up Shortly Posted by
Pharaoh@ 1:58 PM EST
You may have noticed our forums are down. At 8:50AM this morning one the processors died in our linux server that runs the forums. We've been working over lunch to get this corrected and will complete the move to a new machine in the next few hours.
Thanks in advance to Time2Die, my husband, and Bad Mojo (future GoV recruit once he reaches level 15) for hating server downtime and busting ass to get everything moved over quickly.

New Recruitment Process Posted by
Rheanae@ 10:45 PM EST
Hail Guardians!
With great input from several GoV members, the leaders have adjusted the recruitment process. We believe the new process will be more reasonable for the recruits and still uphold the needs of the charter. Please take a look at the Recruit page for details.
Essentially the process has been modified to cover a shorter period of time. Recruits will be considered Initiates and able to participate in Guild Chat.
Please read over the Recruitment section and Forums for more details. If you have questions/comment, please contact myself, Xlarthen or Nolobat.

Fun With Pictures and Forums Posted by
Pharaoh@ 8:59 PM EST
More additions to the site...
1) Lots of pics added to the Gallery section. Some were added to existing sections and we have an entirely new racey section.
2) Based on lack of use coupled with a new need I've renamed the "Battle Plans" forum to "Members Only". This forum can be used to discuss internal guild topics. One suggestion from Rheanae was sharing the items we have that may be useable by other guild members. Let's keep using this forum for internal battle plans, but expand the scope to include other discussions. We have non-guild members and recruits that visit our forums so choosing where your post goes should be based on sensitivity of the content.
As usual, if you have any ideas let us know. Your ideas are helping make this site what it is.
New recruitment policy coming... Posted by
Xlarthen@ 1:46 PM EST
Everyone: I know there has been some frustration with our current process of recruitment. So....there is a new policy in the works that once finished, I think everyone will like :) It will be more streamlined and consistent throughout the *shorter* process :)
I, or another leader will post again when we have everything ironed out.

Site Revamp - Part II Posted by
Pharaoh@ 3:08 PM EST
Saturday seems to be my web day... here are some more site updates.
Of late we have two areas of the site that have grown in importance; Alliance and Skill Trades. Sticking them in the side bar was a temporary quick fix. I've revamped and re-ripped the top menu to add these two areas as proper sections of our site. This gives us room to grow in these sections. Several people have discussed expanding Skill Trades to include prices and other details. There have also been comments on defining alliance chat guidelines and battle goals.
The more I thought about it, both of these sections were just as important as the other areas in our site. So I headed off to Photoshop and got to it. I'd love to hear content suggestions for the site at any time if you all have them.
Welcome and Congratulations Posted by
Pharaoh@ 3:07 PM EST
Welcome Cynder to the guild! Cynder has been an active group member with the GoV folks for some time now and we hope you all have had a chance to meet her. We're glad to have you in the Guild Cynder.
Congratulations to Brew/Gargalore on promotion to Guild Defender!

Site Updates Posted by
Pharaoh@ 7:57 PM EST
Two small updates:
For quick reference the Skill Trade Experts have been moved to a separate link in our side bar and removed from the Members page. This will give you and potential visitors to our site a direct link to get to this information.
A new MIA section for members who have dissapeared has been added at the bottom of the Members main page. We hate to see people go so let's not make this section of the site grow any more!
Bestiary Up! Posted by
Pharaoh@ 1:17 PM EST
Don't know what monsters to fight based on your level and skills? If so check out the new Bestiary from The Catacombs. Awesome new tool.
New Member and New Alliance Posted by
Xlarthen@ 1:21 AM EST
Everyone please welcome Gulveig as our newest Guardian Initiate!! I'm sure she'll make a fine addition to our guild!
Also, please note the 'Alliance' link to the right side of the page. Clicking there will take you to the Alliance page which has a listing of the member guilds and links (if available) to their home pages and/or forums.
The Guild Alliance has been formed to meet the threat of our enemy realms on Tristan. There is an alliance chat, which (If I set up the ranks correctly :) will allow you to chat with other other alliance members (available to ranks of Guardian Defender and up) using the /as [message] or /asend [message] commands.
Please feel free to use the chat to find groups or shout out a warning of enemy invaders. The only thing asked is that chat is kept to a minimum and, in case of a raid, that only the alliance members involved in the raid speak (to allow a common chat room for the raiding groups).
Thanks,
--Xlarthen

Pictures Added / Pictures Needed Posted by
Pharaoh@ 11:15 PM EST
Thanks to all that have sent in their members pictures for our members pages and gallery section. Some of you are STILL primping your character for the perfect members photo. We know who you are!
Check out the latest section in our Gallery. Thanks to Cynder for sending in a collection of shots detailing her adventures in Midguard.
Welcomes and Changes... Posted by
Xlarthen@ 9:21 AM EST
I'd like to welcome all the new players that have started recruiting with us this past week. I look forward to seeing and playing with you all in game :)
Props to Lazerous and Gomek for being initiated into the guild last nite!!!
And now...for something completely different....
I put up a post a bit back about limiting the kinds of classes we are recruiting. Well...after talking to some people and after some of the raids this past week - I've changed my mind. So, recruiting is open to anyone :)
Also, we were initially going to limit ourselves to 32 people and then grow slowly from there. Well, I've come to see that that may be too slow, so we're opening the cap up too :).
Further :), please make sure to seek out our recruits and help them get into groups with us.
Thanks,
--Xlarthen

Gallery Section Updated - Battle Pictures! Posted by
Pharaoh@ 1:12 PM EST
After reading Xlarthen's post below on the victorious reclamation of our keep, stop in to our Gallery section. I've updated our format and added a whole section on last night's battle.
A new member, an alliance, and a Victory! Posted by
Xlarthen@ 3:08 AM EST
Well, quite an exciting day today:
--Brew/Gargalore has now joined us as a Guardian Initiate! Welcome him aboard!!!
--We have joined an alliance (hosted by Circle of Power) that is comprised of several Hibernian guilds on Tristan! This will allow us better inter-guild communication for attacks and defenses of our homeland.
--And last, but certainly NOT least, we have retaken one of the keeps stolen from us by Midgard!!! While the raid suffered some communications and organization breakdowns, this was our FIRST attempt at such an outing and we all learned quite a bit for use in future raids of this sort. Congrats to everyone that participated!! We all fought hard and regained a piece of our homeland!!

Character Builder Posted by
Konolith@ 4:38 PM EST
If you are like me, you agonize for hours over what your character will look like at Level 50. We have a link to the known Character Builder at the Catacombs website already. Well, there is a program by someone, identified as Calteen on the site, that will do the same thing without having to use a website. You can find the DAoC Character Projection program here. The site requires you to click Programs, DAoC, then download the program from the bottom of the ensuing page. Enjoy.
Tradecraft Costs/Skills Calculator Posted by
Konolith@ 3:59 PM EST
For many of us, Tradeskills are an integral part of the game. Issues, though, involve cost determination and level needed to reach "that next material type". In any case, I have found a fantastic resource in an Excel spreadsheet created by a DAoC_Keltor, on this IGN Boards news post. This is a must have resource for those that do crafting.
The link for downloading this tool is tradeskills.zip. Download and express your appreciation on the boards to Keltor.
Welcome to the Ranks Posted by
Rheanae@ 8:55 AM EST
We've had a lot of recruitment activity over the last week or so. I'd like to welcome these newest additions to our ranks!
Shadowlight - Shadowlight has been promoted to the rank of Guardian Defender. He is a colorful druid who is always ready with a root or heal, or a line of astral poetry.
Carling - Carling is a Guardian Initiate. Carling is a very dedicated weaponsmith. As a Bard he knows just how to sing away the blues and make us light and speedy on our feet.
Gomek - Gomek is a Guardian Initiate. Gomek is one of the Champion Brothers. He's quick to Lumber and shout his opponent to Submission.
Lazerous - Lazerous is a Guardian Initiate. Lazerous is one of the Champion Brothers. He's planned his armor coloration well for PvP action in Midgard.
We Guardians are glad to have you among us. If you haven't met one of these folks, check them out, you'll be glad you did!

Site Updates and Guild Registration Posted by
Pharaoh@ 7:27 PM EST
First, thanks to those of you who've gotten me your member screen shots and images. Some of you still must be saving up for the perfect dyes and weather for your screen captures!
Secondly, check out the guild section of Camelot Herald here. It shows all the guilds in our realm and their relative guild points (currently realm points are inaccurate).
Lastly, I've registered our guild on Allakhazam in their Guild Registration. They will confirm our address is valid and then add us to their guild search pages. Allakhazam has a nice guild interface. Notice that of the 22 guilds in our realm listed above, only three are registered here... interesting.

Members Section Updated Posted by
Pharaoh@ 11:00 PM EST
The members section of the site has been completely updated. What was a single page is now a full section of the site. Each member has their own special page and I've added a Skill Trades page as well.
What I need from each of you:
First, go check out your members page. It's most likely pretty empty. Send me a screen shot of you. No worries on the size or cropping. I'll crop it and prep it for the page. Send me any additional information you want listed about you too. Notice how Konolith's page shows his pet as an addition he was interested in having. I can put most information reasonably on the page so just let me know what you need.
Second, send me information about your skill crafting levels and specialties. We're interested primairly in our top folks on this. For example, I have a 230 Armorcrafting level so I'm right out of consideration for the page.
Get those emails coming with your cool screen shots. I can't wait!
Recruiting Posted by
Xlarthen@ 12:42 PM EST
Hey all, I just wanted to drop a quick line about who/what we are currently recruiting. I know we've had a lot of interest from Druids, but the facts are that if we are to maintain some diversity, at the moment, we really need classes other than druids.
Here's a breakdown of where we're currently at: Druids 8 38% Eldritch 1 04% Champion 2 09% Hero 3 14% Blademaster 1 04% Nightshade 2 09% Warden 2 09% Bard 1 09% Unknown 1 04% =========================== Totals 21 100%
As you can see, we are currently Druid heavy. Now, healers are *not* a bad thing, but for RvR, we will need diversity. Currently, we are in need of Rangers, Mentalists, and Enchanters as we have none. Next up would be more Eldritches, Blademasters, and Bards, as we only have 1 of each of those classes.
So please be on the look out for those classes. Also, if you, for example, know a Druid that wishes to join us, what we could do is offer to do the recruiting process as their current character with the stipulation that once accepted into the guild, they reroll into a needed class. (Of course, for the reroll, we would help PL them back to the level they were at with their former class and assist with getting needed gear and such)

Site Updates Posted by
Pharaoh@ 9:36 AM EST
I've added a new forum for GoV battle plans. This forum is private and viewable by guild members only. In here we can discuss when and where we're planning on meeting to do RvR forays. If you have a suggested date, time, location and battle plan be sure to post it so we can join you in the action.
Second, check out the New Recruits section at the top right of this page. We'll keep this list updated with any new recruits.
Lastly, we have some updates to the Gallery section. Thanks to Cronus for sending in his screen shot.
GoV Kicks some Middie butt in PvP combat!! Posted by
Rheanae@ 12:08 PM EST
It was AWESOME!! Late Saturday night a large group of Midgards approached the Druim Ligen keep. The Guardians were out hunting boars when the word of the attack came across the wires. There was a great showing of Hibernians defending our fort. The Guardians rallied together to vanquish the invaders and send them home crying to mommy.
All hail Nolobat, Cronus, Problum, Shadowlight, Lifihrial, Carling, and Rheanae for earning 903 guild realm points!! Thanks also to all the non-guild members that were there to heal and rez us.
On a personal note, it was the most excitement I've had while playing DAoC. Most of the invaders con blue and green to me. As a guild we should start focusing more on PvP. Even though I died a few times, the experience in PvP combat I gained was well worth it!

Camelot Herald site up! Posted by
Pharaoh@ 9:42 AM EST
Check out the new Camelot Herald site from Mythic. It contains information about current patches and upcoming changes in the game in plan for rollout.
There is a great map that shows the realm war status (an how we need to get our two keeps back!) Check the status of the other servers... it's interesting to see that Midguard isn't the most powerful realm on all of the servers.
